Detrack vs Track-PODPowerful features at a fraction of the cost

In short

Detrack and Track-POD are both cloud-based delivery management platforms with a driver app, electronic proof of delivery, live tracking, route optimisation and customer notifications. The difference is what you pay and what you're limited to.

  • Price. Detrack costs 40 to 55% less than Track-POD at every fleet size.
  • Minimum drivers. Detrack has no minimum. Track-POD requires at least three drivers.
  • Office users. Detrack includes unlimited web users on every plan. Track-POD caps dashboard users at 7 to 100, depending on plan.
  • SMS. Track-POD charges extra for SMS on every plan. Detrack adds no per-message fee.
  • Data storage. Detrack keeps your delivery data for five years. Track-POD keeps two years on its standard plans.
  • Route optimisation. Route optimisation is built into Detrack. ElasticRoute, our former standalone routing product, was brought into the platform in early 2024, so there is no second login, extra product or separate subscription.

Both platforms cover the essentials

If you're choosing between Detrack and Track-POD, you're looking at two established delivery management platforms, and neither will leave you short on core features. Both run a driver app for iPhone and Android, capture proof of delivery, track vehicles live, plan routes, send automated customer notifications and connect to your other systems via API.

The differences that change your bill

Feature parity is the starting point. These are the places where the two platforms genuinely differ, and most of them show up on your invoice rather than in a feature list.

Pay per driver, not per user

Dispatchers, admins, managers and anyone else who logs into Detrack from a desk never count towards your bill. Track-POD's entry plan allows seven dashboard users, and you need its $69 to $89 per driver tiers to lift that to 50 or 100. If your office team is growing faster than your fleet, this is the gap that matters most.

Start with one driver

Track-POD's cheapest entry point is three drivers on the Advanced plan: $147 a month billed annually or $177 month to month, whether or not you have three drivers. Detrack starts at $29 for a single driver and scales one at a time from there.

Volume never moves the price

Track-POD's Advanced plan caps you at 6,000 orders a month, and its per-order plans are priced on volume by design. With Detrack, a busy month costs exactly what a quiet one does. Deliver 100 jobs or 10,000 and the invoice doesn't change.

Keep the history you'll need

Detrack keeps your delivery data searchable for five years. Track-POD keeps two on its Advanced, Advanced Plus and Ultimate plans, extending only on Enterprise and its highest per-order tier. For industries that face audits, or that want to compare this year's peak against last year's and the one before, the extra three years do real work.

Rate cards for 3PL operations

If you deliver for multiple clients, Detrack's rate cards let you set a pricing structure per client and calculate the cost of every delivery automatically, by item count, weight, zone or your own parameters. Track-POD's 3PL portal lets your shippers manage their own orders, which is useful, but it doesn't work out what to charge them. For 3PLs juggling several pricing agreements, that is hours of admin a week.

Notifications without the surcharge

Track-POD lists SMS as an additional charge on every plan. Detrack doesn't add a per-message fee on top of your subscription. You connect your own SMS provider and pay only what that provider charges, with nothing added by us.

Read that Detrack needs ElasticRoute for routing? That's out of date.

Some older reviews and comparison posts, including Track-POD's own "Detrack + ElasticRoute = Track-POD" article, describe Detrack as a two-part solution: add orders in Detrack, pull them into ElasticRoute, plan there, push routes back. That was true until early 2024, when we brought ElasticRoute directly into Detrack.

Today route optimisation is a feature of Detrack Advanced, not a separate product. You import or create jobs, click optimise, review the routes on the map and send them to drivers, all in one dashboard and one login, with no extra subscription. If a review or comparison says otherwise, check its date.

Per-driver pricing compared

Both platforms offer a per-driver (or per-vehicle) plan, so this is the cleanest like-for-like comparison. Track-POD's Advanced plan lines up against Detrack Pro, and Track-POD's Advanced Plus against Detrack Advanced. All prices are in USD, taken from Detrack's pricing page and Track-POD's in October 2026.

Monthly $79 $39 $4051% less $120 a month
AnnualBilled yearly, shown per month $69 $35 $3449% less $102 a month

Track-POD per-driver plans require a minimum of three drivers. Detrack has no minimum. Detrack annual prices reflect the 10% annual discount, rounded to the nearest dollar. Track-POD also offers an Ultimate plan at $89 per driver billed annually ($99 monthly) and an Enterprise plan with a 20-driver minimum. Both companies quote custom pricing for large fleets.

Per-order pricing compared

Track-POD also sells volume-based plans, priced on orders per month with unlimited drivers. Detrack doesn't charge per order, so to compare them we've assumed each driver completes 500 jobs a month (roughly 23 a day) and priced the equivalent fleet on Detrack Advanced, billed monthly.

When could per-order pricing favour Track-POD?

Only when you run a lot of drivers for very few orders. Track-POD's Core plan costs the same as 13 drivers on Detrack Advanced, so you'd need 14 or more drivers sharing fewer than 3,000 jobs a month, which is under 11 deliveries per driver per day. Most fleets run well above that, and the further above it you are, the wider Detrack's lead gets.

What this means for your business

Across every scenario, from a single van to a fleet of twenty and from steady year-round volume to a seasonal spike, Detrack delivers the same core features for 40 to 55% less than Track-POD. The gap holds against Track-POD's per-driver plans, which are its more economical option, and widens against its per-order plans. That difference is money you can put into another driver, another dispatcher or the next piece of kit, rather than into software.

Which platform is right for you?

Both will run a delivery operation well. The question is whether you want to pay a premium for the one with more limits.

Choose Detrack if you want

  • The lower price without giving up features
  • To pay per driver only, with unlimited office users and unlimited jobs
  • To start with one driver and add more as you grow
  • Route optimisation built in, alongside proof of delivery and tracking, included in Advanced at $39 per driver
  • Rate cards for multi-client 3PL work
  • Five years of delivery data for audits, disputes and year-on-year analysis
  • A 14-day trial of every feature with no credit card

Consider Track-POD if

  • You've already invested heavily in Track-POD training and workflows
  • You have an integration built specifically against Track-POD's API that would be costly to rebuild
  • You run a large driver count on a very low job volume, where per-order pricing can come out ahead

Common questions

Does Detrack include route optimisation?

Yes. Route optimisation is built into Detrack Advanced. ElasticRoute, our former standalone routing product, was merged into Detrack in early 2024. There is no separate product, login or subscription. Order management, route planning, live tracking and proof of delivery all run in one platform and one driver app.

Is ElasticRoute still a separate product?

No. ElasticRoute was brought directly into Detrack in early 2024 and is no longer sold or run separately. Its multi-driver route optimisation is now a standard feature of Detrack Advanced. Reviews or comparisons that describe Detrack and ElasticRoute as two products predate that change.

What's the difference between Detrack Pro and Detrack Advanced?

Pro covers proof of delivery, live driver tracking, branded customer notifications and tracking links, custom fields and job statuses, five years of data storage, daily analytics, the manager and scanner apps, and API access, with unlimited web users. Advanced adds route optimisation, recurring jobs, vehicle safety checks, rate cards, a scheduling calendar, capacity utilisation tools, milestone reports comparing expected and actual drive time, advanced analytics and access to the Detrack MCP server.

Does Detrack have a minimum number of drivers?

No. Detrack starts at one driver and you add more as you need them. Track-POD's per-driver plans require a minimum of three drivers, and its Enterprise plan requires twenty.

Does Detrack charge for office users?

No. Every Detrack plan includes unlimited web users, so dispatchers, admins and managers never add to your bill. You pay only for drivers using the driver app. Track-POD includes 7, 50 or 100 dashboard users depending on the plan.

Does Detrack charge per order like Track-POD's per-order plans?

No. Detrack uses flat per-driver pricing with unlimited jobs on every plan. Deliver 100 orders or 10,000 a month and the price stays the same, so there are no surprise charges when volume picks up.

Can I switch from Track-POD to Detrack easily?

Yes. Our support team helps with migration, and Detrack's API and spreadsheet import let you bring across existing order data and customer details. Most teams are running live jobs within the trial period.
